On 10/20/2026, officers were dispatched to a store in the 4700 block of 42nd Avenue Southwest for a robbery. The caller stated they attempted to stop a shoplifter to recover stolen merchandise, but the shoplifter implied he had a firearm and reached towards his crossbody bag. When officers arrived and interviewed the victim (loss prevention), the second loss prevention agent stated they saw the suspect actually partially remove a black semi-automatic handgun, stating they could see the pistol’s grip and slide. Loss Prevention feared the suspect would use the firearm, so they let him go, but informed him they were calling police. The suspect then told the victim’s that he would shoot the police if they tried to arrest him. Loss Prevention states this individual comes into the store to steal multiple times a week.
