A 43-year-old man is in custody and a stolen handgun was recovered following a fight disturbance in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant Thursday in North Seattle.
Shortly after 5:00 pm multiple calls to 911 reported a fight between two men in the parking lot of a restaurant at North 85th Street and Aurora Avenue North. The witnesses stated that one of the men had a firearm and was pointing it at the other man. Witnesses stated that the man then tucked the gun into his pants as the disturbance ended.
Officers responded along with King County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, Guardian One. Guardian One located a man matching the suspect description and assisted guiding officers toward him. Officers located the suspect and arrested him. Officers searched the man and found an unloaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun in his waistband. A records check later determined that it was a stolen handgun from a recent burglary.
A records check showed that the suspect had previous felony convictions.
A witness stated she saw the suspect point the gun directly at the other man and pull the trigger multiple times. The suspect was also observed using both hands to manipulate the gun and then point it back at the other man.
Officers located the other man involved in the disturbance, but he refused to cooperate with the investigation.
The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for unlawful possession of a firearm. Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
