#2021-050352/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 03-01-2021 at 0045 hours, victim 1, stated that he was outside a shelter when he heard sounds of a disturbance inside. Victim 1 looked inside the glass doors at the entrance of the shelter and saw the suspect hitting a shelter staff member with a wooden stick. Victim 1 tried to interrupt the assault by pounding on the door to gain the suspect’s attention and allow victim 2 to escape. Suspect did turn his attention to victim 1. The suspect exited the room and started swinging the wooden handle at victim 1, who stated that he had to duck to avoid being hit from the stick and felt “air” above his head, which made him believe he was narrowly missed by suspect’s swing. Suspect then dropped the broom handle and went outside. Victim 1 kept sight of suspect while calling 911 and was then able to point the suspect out to officers when they arrived. Officers took the suspect into custody without incident. Officers recognized the suspect from a crisis call earlier in the night. At that time the suspect was paranoid but did not rise to the level of an Involuntary Treatment (ITA). Officers contacted the Mobile Crisis Team who were en route to speak with the suspect but had a 90-minute ETA. Suspect was refused at the King County Jail and was taken to Harborview Medical Center under hospital guard.
#2021-050512/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:
On 03-01-2021 at 0810 hours, officers responded to 16th SW for a report of a known suicidal subject. Patrol trained Crisis Intervention Team officers arrived on scene and began a dialogue with the subject. CRT along with Mental Health Professionals also responded. The Hostage Negotiation Team began communication with the subject. Officers formed a contact team. The subject dropped the weapon and complied with commands. He was taken into custody without incident. He was referred to a local hospital for Involuntary Treatment under ITA.
#2021-050585/South Precinct/First Watch:
On 03-01-2021 at 0927 hours, officers responded to a report of a stolen box truck. The caller advised that the truck was stolen overnight during a burglary from a business, and an employee had located the truck and was now following it. Officers responded to the location provided by the witness and located the vehicle. They conducted a felony stop on the vehicle and the driver (only occupant) was arrested. During a search of the suspect, incident to arrest, officers located various burglary tools, including a lock pick gun. Officers responded to the original location where the truck was stolen and investigated the burglary. The business surveillance system was not functioning, and officers were unable to determine if the suspect who possessed the stolen truck was involved in the burglary. The suspect asked for an attorney upon arrest and did not speak with officers. Incident screened with the general investigation unit. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for RCW 9A.56.068: Possession of stolen vehicle.
#2021-50832/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 03-01-2021 at 1425 hours, a Traffic Officer parked in the 1100 block of 2nd Ave. Upon his return to his motorcycle, he discovered his police helmet had been stolen. A witness came forward telling the officer he saw an unknown male driving a full-size crew cab pick-up stop beside his motorcycle and take the helmet. We are investigating.
#2021-050992/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:
On 03-01-2021 at 1802 hours, callers reported shots fired in the area of 30th AV SW and SW Graham St. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of a shooting. A canvas of the area was conducted, and three objects were struck. A residence was struck, and the round penetrated the walls, narrowly missing an infant and two adults. An occupied vehicle was also struck (no injury) as well as a parked car. No tangible suspect information was located. The scene was processed.
#2021-051107/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 03-01-2021 at 2055 hours, a male was pulling out onto the street, but a suspect’s vehicle was pulled up too far and blocked the victim’ path of turning northbound. There was some verbal back and forth between the two people, but no threats according to the victim. The victim decided to get into his vehicle and turn southbound instead. At about that point the suspect got out of his car and stated, “do we have a fucking problem here!” while holding something in his hand. The victim began driving away and heard a “POP” and looked back and saw the suspect vehicle drive away to the north. The victim stopped and found a bullet size hole in the rear bumper. An area check for the suspect and suspect vehicle was negative.
#2021-51168/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 03-01-2021 at 2217 hours, a male stated that while living in a tent in the park he has been contacted by a group of people who claim to control the park and demand protection goods/money. Today, the victim was confronted by the gang and refused to pay. Later, while the victim was sleeping in his tent he was awoke to being dragged through the park and beaten with what he believed was a golf club. Victim could not ID any of the suspects, and no witnesses were willing to talk to police. No suspects were located. Victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center for medical treatment.
