Seattle police officers arrested a 39-year-old felon, armed with a gun, for ramming a police vehicle with a stolen car and injuring two officers this afternoon in the Chinatown-International District.
At about 12:30 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a man passed out behind the wheel of a sports car in an underground parking garage at 400 South Jackson Street. Police discovered that the car was reported stolen on Nov. 24.
When officers approached the man, he woke up and began intentionally ramming their police vehicle, injuring two officers while multiple cops attempted to take him into custody.
Police used a taser during the incident to stop the suspect. Officers arrested him for multiple crimes:
- Assault 1st Degree (x3)
- Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
- Possessing a Stolen Firearm
- Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer
- Narcotics Possession
- Two misdemeanor warrants for Driving While License Suspended
- Three felony warrants for Burglary
The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) responded to the scene and treated two SPD officers for minor injuries. They later went to the hospital for medical evaluation for blood exposure.
Following the arrest, police recovered:
- Stolen handgun
- Loaded magazines, ammunition
- 1.9g Methamphetamine
- 7.9g of Marijuana
- Burglary tools, bolt cutters
SFD also treated the suspect, and medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) for evaluation. When released from HMC, police booked into the King County Jail.
The suspect, a previously convicted felon for Burglary and Eluding police, is prohibited from having firearms.
