It’s been a decade since the last Super Sunday for the Seahawks, and with the big game coming up this weekend, we wanted to give people a few reminders on how to celebrate safely.
We get it. You want to let your hair down, have a bit too much bean dip, and watch the Hawks exorcise a demon from our collective past. We just want you to be safe.
Plan ahead and have a designated driver, or use a rideshare or taxi to get to and from your parties, because no one wants to get a DUI. We will have a DUI emphasis patrol happening all day Sunday just to keep the roads safe for everyone.
If you are going to one of the many watch parties within the city, we will have emphasis patrols in the more crowded areas of Seattle. You can expect to see lots of cops out having a great time with you. If you need something, or if you or a friend starts feeling unwell, just ask; we’re here to help. Keep an eye on your teammates (and your drinks), and make sure your phone is charged before you head out so you can stay connected.
When you are walking to your transportation (after the inevitable win), make sure you follow all the traffic laws. With the excitement in the air and extra traffic on the streets, stay off your phone while crossing the road and keep your head on a swivel. See video for example.
But please don’t climb the Pioneer Square pergola like last time. It’s old, it’s expensive to fix, and we’d much rather see you celebrating on the ground than heading to the ER. So have a great time, be loud, and be safe.
