On March 3rd, shortly after 9:00 PM, West Precinct officers were called to a fight disturbance reported at 2nd Avenue and Bell Street. The call stated that two men were physically fighting, and at the time, no weapons were seen. As officers were enroute to the call, an update came in that one of the participants had fired several shots and had fled on foot westbound on Bell Street.
Officers located the suspect near the waterfront and he was taken into custody after witnesses positively identified him as the shooter. The handgun, however, was not located.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the incident had actually occurred in the 100 Block of Bell Street. No one appears to have been injured as a result of the shooting, and officers never did locate the second individual involved in the fight. Two parked cars and a window at a business, however, were damaged from bullet strikes.
Gang Unit detectives also responded to the scene and assisted patrol officers with the investigation. The 19 year old suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Malicious Mischief, Investigation of Violation of Uniformed Firearms Act (VUFA) and VUCSA (Felony drugs).
