A large melee on Alki escalated into shots being fired. On 7/6/12, just shortly after 9:00 p.m., officers responded to 5851 SW Lander St to a report of a melee and gunfire.
A large group of people were enjoying the rare hot and sunny weather in Whale Tail Park. Two women got into an argument, which escalated into a large brawl. Someone pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots. One round went through a window of a home across the street (2600 block of Marine SW).
Multiple calls to 911 were made including reports of fighting with baseball bats. Multiple patrol cars responded with many people running in many directions. A few persons were detained. There were four separate scenes to process. However, order was restored and no victims were located. Six casings were recovered and placed into evidence. No suspects were identified. One person was booked for obstructing and a warrant.
