Woman Attacked in Myrtle Edwards Park, Suspect Arrested

A woman was sexually assaulted at about 11:30 this morning by a stranger while she was in Myrtle Edwards Park.  Officers located and arrested the suspect a short distance away.

West Precinct officers responded to the call in the park after several people called 911 stating that a man was chasing people in the park.  Officers arrived and found the victim.  She stated that she had been sexually assaulted and was later transported to the hospital.  Witnesses directed officers toward a parking garage near the Seattle Art Museum Sculpture Park where the 25-year-old suspect was located and arrested. The suspect is also had an outstanding warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.  He was positively identified by the witnesses, and was later booked into the King County Jail.  Detectives from the Sexual Assault Unit will handle the follow up investigation.
