Officer assaulted while investigating fight disturbance, suspect arrested

On October 25th,  at a few minutes before midnight,  West Precinct bicycle  officers responded to an assault incident in the 100  Block of University. A group of 4-5 male  teens had assaulted a lone victim, knocking him unconscious.  The suspects were last seen fleeing eastbound  on University.  That victim was transported to the hospital.
While the officers were conducting an area check for these suspects, they on-viewed a fight disturbance at 3rd Avenue /Pine Street between several male teens.  While conducting the investigation, an officer was struck in the face by a juvenile female suspect that was also involved in the disturbance.  The suspect was arrested. The officer sustained a small bump  below his left eye and scratches around his nose.  His injuries did not require medical attention.  She was subsequently booked into the Youth Services Center for felony assault.
The suspects in the original assault incident were never located.
