On November 5th at approximately 1:00 AM North Precinct officers responded to the parking of lot of a grocery store at 15th Ave. N.W. and N.W. Market St. regarding an assault upon a taxi driver. The investigation revealed that the taxi driver picked up a highly intoxicated male from Magnolia and was en route to Ballard. While in transit the male repeatedly punched the driver in the back of the head, and derided him for being an immigrant from a Muslim nation. The suspect continued to make threats until the taxi pulled to the side of the road and summoned police.
The highly intoxicated suspect was taken into custody and booked for Investigation of Malicious Mischief after re-iterating assaultive threats toward the taxi driver, using the victim’s national origin as impetus for such.
