On 1/12/09 at approximately 3:15 PM two African male immigrants were inside of a store in the 8800 block of Rainier Avenue S. One of the men received a phone call on his cell phone and stepped outside to talk. As he was talking on the phone, the suspect, who was inside of a truck stopped at a red light at Rainier and Henderson, told the victim to “speak English”. The victim tried to tell the suspect that he didn’t speak English well. The suspect then pulled out of traffic, got out of his vehicle, yelled religious slurs and threats then proceeded to hit the victim twice in the upper body. Victim 2, who was inside the store, saw what was happening and tried to intervene but was punched in the left eye by the suspect. The suspect then threatened to kill both victims before getting back in his vehicle and fleeing the scene.
The suspect was driving a dark blue Chevy S-10 pickup, with a partial Washington license plate of 136. The suspect is described as a white male, 6’0 tall, 180 pounds, unshaven, approximately 30 – 40 years old.
