On February 24th SPD Communications received several 911 calls regarding a reckless driver in a white Dodge Durango. That information was immediately broadcast to patrol officers. Shortly thereafter, at approximately 4:52 p.m., a patrol officer saw the suspect vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Linden Avenue North near North 91st Street. The suspect continued on at a high rate of speed, ran a stop sign and collided with a Mitsubishi sedan at North 93rd Street and Aurora Avenue North. The suspect vehicle overturned as a result of the collision. The suspect then fled the scene on foot but was apprehended by officers about two blocks away. Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect fled the scene of at least one hit and run property damage collision prior to the roll over collision. Additionally, the Dodge Durango driven by the suspect is a stolen vehicle out of Seattle, and the suspect has an active misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. The two male occupants of the Mitsubishi were evaluated at the scene and not transported. A female passenger in the suspect vehicle was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. A male passenger was transported to HMC with non-life-threatening injuries. The 20-year-old male suspect was also transported to HMC with non-life-threatening injuries and will be booked into the King County Jail upon release from the hospital. Traffic Collision Investigation Squad Detectives responded to process the collision scene. This remains an active and on-going investigation.
