Teen shot in the leg

On 5/30/09, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers responded to Rainier Av S. and 51 Av S., to investigate reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found a male down in the 9300 block of 51 Av S. The male victim had been shot in the leg 3 times. He was treated on scene by Seattle Fire and transported to HMC with non life threatening injuries. Based on information provided to officers by the victim and witnesses, a group of males were contacted at Rainier Av S. and S. Henderson St.  Witnesses positively identified 6 of the subjects as being involved in the incident.  The six subjects (5 males and 1 female) were arrested and transported to the South Precinct where they were processed and later booked into the Youth Service Center for Investigation of Robbery. Officers recovered shell casings from the area, along with the victim’s property and a handgun, which had been stashed in a nearby rockery.

Witnesses told officers that the victim and his friends were walking in the 9200 block of Rainier Ave S.,when they got into a verbal altercation with the group of suspects.  The suspects started robbing the victim and his friends of their backpacks and at some point one of the suspects pulled out a hand gun and shot the 17- year- old victim in the leg.  The suspects then fled NB towards S. Henderson on 50th Av S., while the victims and witnesses ran south.  At this time, the shooter remains at large. The scene was processed by the Gang Unit.
