Shots Fired at Seward Park

On 6/6/09 at approx. 7:00 p.m., officers responded to Seward Park on reports of shots fired.  Upon arrival, witnesses indicated the shots came from the upper loop near the BBQ area.  Officers went to the upper loop and located shell casings on the concrete pathway leading to the BBQ area.  A witness indicated that the shooter was a stocky black male in his 20’s, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled down over his face.  Other witnesses indicated that the suspect walked up the path and fired the shots towards a group of people who were celebrating near the BBQ pits.  It was also reported that the shooter fired the shots towards a group of who were celebrating a graduation.  All potential victims left the park without contacting officers.   A white SUV with tinted windows was seen leaving the area but was not located.  No blood was found in the area and no victims were located.
