On June 11 at approximately 4:37 p.m. officers responded to 730 South Stacy Street to arrest a suspect wanted on a felony warrant. The suspect showed up at the public counter of the SPD Evidence Unit to pick up property secured there from a previous arrest. Officers arrived and attempted to arrest the wanted 45-year-old man. The suspect, who was armed with a screwdriver, violently resisted arrest and fought with the officers. Two officers sustained injuries from the altercation and are being treated at Harborview Medical Center. They are expected to be released tonight. The suspect sustained a cut to his head and is being treated at Harborview under police guard. Upon release from Harborview the suspect will be booked into the King County Jail for two counts of Investigation of Assault on an Officer and on the felony warrant (Burglary and Malicious Mischief charges).
On June 6 the suspect in question burglarized a church located in the 8300 block of Renton Avenue South and inflicted an extensive amount of property damage to the church while inside. The suspect also vandalized a pickup truck parked nearby. Responding officers apprehended the suspect near the crime scene. The suspect was subsequently booked into the King County Jail.
