On 11/22/09, at approximately 2:00 a.m., while monitoring bar closing in Pioneer Square, officers on-viewed shots fired in the parking lot next to Occidental Park. Approximately 10-15 shots were fired. Once the shooting stopped, officers formed a contact team and swept the parking lot for victims and suspects, but neither was found. At no point did any officer fire any shots.
One vehicle still on scene had a broken rear window from a gunshot. Officers recovered two different casings from the area. Shortly after the shooting, a King County SO unit stopped a vehicle fleeing the scene and located a gun in the vehicle. One passenger provided information that another passenger was one of the shooters.
All occupants were detained and brought to the precinct and the vehicle was impounded. Officers were able to obtain written statements placing the identified shooter at the scene. The suspect was booked into King County Jail for Violation of Uniform Firearms Act as a convicted felon, all other occupants were investigated and released.
At 3:46 a.m., Valley Medical Center (VMC) notified SPD that a male had come in claiming he had been shot outside bar in Seattle. Officers responded to VMC to obtain a statement and recover evidence. At VMC, the victim became uncooperative and changed his story to indicate his wound had nothing to do with this incident. Victim’s condition is unknown at this time.
