On December 23rd, at approximately 9:25 pm, South Precinct officers responded to a large disturbance in the 9000 Block of Rainier Avenue South. Approximately twenty juvenile males were harassing customers and jumping on cars in the parking lot. As the first officer arrived, a juvenile male began running away from the officer. As the suspect was running, a handgun fell from his pants. The suspect then picked it up and dropped it into a garbage can as he fled. The officer pursued the suspect and caught him a short distance away. The handgun was recovered by another officer. The suspect, 16, is a convicted felon and was booked into the Youth Services Center for Violation of the Uniform Firearms Act (VUFA).
