Thousands Expected to Turn Out for Week Day Events
Seattle –Tuesday morning, March 23, drivers in downtown Seattle may encounter delays when 32 school buses will be loading and unloading 1,500 students for a morning of National Geographic Live! lectures at Benaroya Hall. Wednesday morning, March 24, thousands of shareholders are expected to attend the Starbucks Annual Shareholders Meeting at McCall Hall. Thursday afternoon, motorists can expect the usual heavier game day traffic in the SODO area when 38,000 Seattle Sounders fans turn out for a 6:30 p.m. match at Qwest Field. The Seattle Department of Transportation advises motorists to avoid delays by planning ahead. Seattle Sounder fans are encouraged to take transit, Link Rail, the Sounder, or carpool, to help reduce traffic snarls during the peak afternoon traffic.
Tuesday, March 23
National Geographic Live!: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Benaroya Hall
1,500 expected
Motorists should expect congestion around Benaroya Hall when 32 school buses will be loading and unloading on streets in the surrounding area. Seattle Police will assist with traffic.
Wednesday, March 24
Starbucks Annual Shareholders Meeting: 8 a.m. – 12 noon
McCaw Hall
3,800 expected
Motorists can expect congestion in the area surrounding the Seattle Center.
Thursday, March 25
Seattle Sounders vs. Philadelphia Union: 6:30 p.m.
Qwest Field
38,000 expected
Motorists will likely encounter heavy traffic throughout the SODO area during the afternoon commute.
