On April 11th at approximately 3:09 a.m. multiple uniformed patrol car units, SPD Harbor Patrol, SFD Harbor Patrol and the Coast Guard jointly responded to a 911 call from a transient male who had been walking along the shoreline approximately one-half mile south of the Discovery Park lighthouse and had become trapped as the tide quickly came in.
While searching the area in difficult terrain in the dark, a uniformed patrol car officer located the victim and waded out into approximately three feet of water to rescue him. The victim was very cold, but otherwise uninjured. SFD evaluated the victim, who was subsequently transported to Harborview Medical Center by ambulance.
