Officer involved shooting in West Seattle

On September 3rd at approximately 8:45 p.m. officers responded to the 6100 block of Admiral Way SW to a report of shots fired.  A family member stated that she was talking on the telephone to a female inside the suspect’s home, when she heard what she believed to be gunfire and the phone line went dead.

The family member called back inside the home and the suspect answered and made threats to take his own life.  The family member promptly called 911.  Officers responded and also heard what they believed to be gunfire.  The officers went to the rear of the home and were confronted by the suspect, who was armed with a rifle.

The suspect pointed the rifle in the direction of the officers and the officers fired several shots, striking the suspect.  Seattle Fire Department medics responded and treated the suspect at the scene.  He was later transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.

The three officers involved in the shooting were not injured.  Homicide and CSI detectives responded and processed the scene.

This information is preliminary and subject to change.  This remains an active and on-going investigation.

As of 7:00 a.m. this morning the suspect is listed in stable condition.
