Collision investigation on the Alaskan Way Viaduct

On October 9th at approximately 12:30 AM, a 1999 Audi A4, driven by a 17 year old male with a 17 year old female passenger, was travelling northbound on the Alaskan Way Viaduct.  As the car approached the 2200 Block of Alaskan Way,(South Landers Street),  it suddenly left the east side of the roadway and collided with stationary train sitting on the tracks just east of the Viaduct.

The Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene and had to extract the passenger out of the car.  Both the driver and the passenger were transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.  Alcohol may have been a factor in this collision.

Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation.  The detectives will be responsible for the follow up investigation.
