Update- officers injured during buy-bust operation

On October 18th, at approximately 8:30 PM, West Precinct Anti-Crime Team (ACT) officers along with the night bicycle officers, were conducting a narcotics buy-bust in the downtown area.  An undercover officer was attempting to purchase drugs from a suspect.  That suspect told the officer he could take him to another suspect in the 1500 Block of 2nd Avenue.  The officer went with the suspect to meet the drug dealer.  While waiting in a parking lot at that location, several other suspects began to surround the undercover officer and other plain clothes officers.  The officers sensed that something was wrong and decided to call off the transaction.  As the officer turned to leave, he was sucker-punched in the jaw by one of the suspects.  The other officers at the scene immediately radioed for additional officers to come to the scene, and the suspects ran off.  One of the suspects began to actively fight with officers there at the scene, and he was taken into custody.  Officers arriving in the area were able to contact and arrest the other suspects.  In an attempt to arrest one of the suspects running from the scene, an officer sustained a serious gash over his eye, injury to his eye socket, and a broken nose when the suspect fought with the officer.  That suspect was also arrested.  A total of six suspects were arrested, five of them later booked for Investigation of Robbery and Assault.  One of the suspects was interviewed and released from the precinct.  Both of the injured officers were treated at the scene by Seattle Fire and then transported to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment.
