On June 12th at 1:08 a.m., West Precinct patrol officers responded to the 100 block of 1st Avenue S for a report of a stabbing. Upon arriving officers quickly discovered that the victim was not actually stabbed, but punched. However, the assault suspect was in fact armed with a knife, because after punching the victim, the suspect brandished the knife and then fled.
The victim and witnesses gave officers a description of the suspect. An area check was conducted but the suspect was not located.
At 2:52 a.m., West Precinct patrol officers were flagged down by security at a nightclub in the 1500 block of 2nd Avenue. Security reported that there was a man walking through the crowd brandishing a knife. Officers noted that the description provided by security matched the assault suspect in the earlier assault. Additional officers responded and searched the area.
Officers located the suspect in the 300 block of Pine Street. Officers placed the 19 year old male under arrest without incident. He was later booked into King County Jail for Unlawful Use of a Weapon to Intimidate for his actions in the 1500 block of 2nd Avenue. Officers were not able to contact the victim from the earlier assault to verify that the suspect was the same one from that incident as well. That case remains pending further investigation. The suspect’s knife was placed into evidence.
