On December 23rd at 9:52 p.m. officers were on patrol when they came upon a male victim on the sidewalk in the 1400 block of 2nd Avenue who had just been assaulted. As officers approached, witnesses pointed out a suspect and one officer engaged in a short foot pursuit and apprehended the suspect. Another officer stayed with the unconscious victim awaiting the arrival of SFD medics.
Preliminary investigation indicates that two suspects, a male and a female, stomped on the victim male’s head until he was unconscious. It is unknown at this time what precipitated the assault or how the victim ended up on the ground.
Two separate witnesses positively identified the male suspect apprehended by officers. There was still blood plainly visible on the suspect’s shoes, which were subsequently seized as evidence.
SFD medics responded and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening head injuries.
The female suspect fled the scene and remains at large. The male suspect was booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault (felony assault).
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
