Southwest Precinct officers responded to Highline Hospital to investigate a reported shooting. The teenage male victim told officers that on January 14th, at approximately 6:00 pm, he was jogging in the 9000 Block of 12th Avenue South. He stated that an unknown Hispanic male, approximately 25, 5’6″, wearing a baseball cap and dark clothing, was behind him when, for reasons unknown, the suspect fired three shots from a gun. The victim was struck in the back of the thigh and fell down. The suspect then ran off eastbound on South Henderson Street.
After interviewing the victim, officers went to the reported shooting scene, but did not locate any evidence. Officers interviewed neighbors in the block and no one stated that the heard or saw the shots fired. The victim’s injuries are not considered life threatening. Detectives are conducting the follow up investigation.
