Robbery suspect being sought

On 1/23/12, at approximately 1018 a.m., a witness observed what he believed to be 3 males following the victim through a parking lot in the 9200 Block of Rainier Ave South. The witness saw 2 of the males stand some distance away as the primary suspect approached the victim.

The suspect physically attacked the victim by knocking her to the ground and taking her purse.  The suspect then fled the scene eastbound. During the attack, the victim struck her head on the pavement and sustained injuries to the left side of her face and cheek area. The 58-year-old victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center and treated for her injuries which were described as non-life threatening.

The suspect is described as a black male teen, wearing a short black coat and blue jeans.

The 2 subjects seen walking with the suspect remained at the scene. They were detained and transported to the South Precinct for further Investigation.  They were subsequently released pending further investigation.

South Precinct officers and detectives continue to proactively investigate robberies in the area.  Anyone with information about this incident or who may know the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call 911.
