Pro-Active Police Work Leads to Arrest of Wanted Man

On April 28th at approximately 1:26 a.m. officers on patrol contacted a suspect for trespassing at 8th Avenue South and South Jackson Street.  The suspect was obviously giving officers a false name and as the officers were walking him to the patrol car to investigate his identity further the suspect took off running westbound on South Jackson Street.  After a two block-long foot pursuit, the suspect gave up his escape attempt and was taken into custody without further incident.

Officers quickly determined that the 40-year-old male suspect had an outstanding Department of Corrections (DOC) Escape Warrant for Rape of a Child.

The suspect was subsequently booked into the King County Jail for the DOC warrant, False Reporting, and Obstructing.

This is a great example of pro-active police work.  The officers did an outstanding job of arresting this suspect that posed an obvious risk to the community and doing so without injury to themselves or the suspect.
