A suspect fired 7-8 shots near the 9000 block of Rainier Avenue S. just after 3:00 p.m. today. A passerby called 911 to report hearing gunfire in the area of Rainier Avenue S and S. Henderson St. The caller went on to say that he saw two shirtless men running away from the area.
Officers arrived on scene and contacted one of the victims. The other victim left the area on his bicycle prior to officers’ arrival. Neither victim was injured. It is unclear what preceded the gunfire but detectives do not believe this was a random act.
The suspect is described as a black male, late teens to early 20’s, 6’0 tall, medium build, and short hair. He was wearing a white tank top and black basketball shorts with a red and white design.
The suspect was last seen shoving a handgun in his waist as he ran southbound past the Jack in the Box. He was not located during a search of the area. Bullet casings at the scene were collected and placed into evidence. They will be processed for forensic evidence. The Gang Unit is investigating.
