Convicted felon in possession of a stolen gun arrested

A call from a resident and the quick response by the officers very likely prevented a shooting and got a stolen handgun in the possession of a convicted felon off the streets. On 3/17/2013, just shortly after midnight a resident who lives in the 1900 block of 3rd Ave called 911 to report a man standing on the sidewalk holding a handgun.  He was reportedly talking on the phone and was threatening to shoot someone.

Officers quickly responded to the area and located the suspect near Virginia St.  When he saw the officers approaching, the male took off running.  After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody, and a .40 Smith & Wesson pistol was recovered from a pocket in his pants.

A records check showed that the pistol was a stolen gun that had been taken in a carprowl in Seattle back in 2010.  The suspect was a convicted felon and was prohibited from possessing a handgun, and he also had warrants.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of (VUFA) Violation of the Uniform Firearms Act. He was also booked for a Federal Warrant.
