A skateboarder sustained life threatening injuries from a collision last night in North Seattle. On 1/9/14, just shortly after 8:00 p.m., a black Audi A6 was travelling eastbound on NE 50th St approaching 7 Av NE. As the Audi proceeded across 7 Av NE, a male on a skateboard rode mid block across NE 50th just east of 7 Av NE and was struck by the vehicle.
Seattle Fire Department responded and treated the 20- year-old male pedestrian (skateboarder); he was transported to HMC via Medics having suffered life threatening head trauma.
As is routine, a Drug Recognition Expert officer responded and evaluated the 21-year-old male driver of the vehicle; no signs of impairment were detected.
Neither the driver of the vehicle or his two passengers suffered injuries as a result of the collision.
Traffic Collision Investigators responded and processed the scene. During the course of their investigation, detectives will determine who was at fault.
The investigation continues.
