Officers investigate early morning shootout

No one was injured during an early morning shootout on Boren Av.

On 03-29-14, just shortly before 4:00 a.m., a shots fired call at 1930 Boren Av (KC Sobering center) was broadcast. Initial reports were of a suspect armed and outside of the sobering center. These reports described a subject and direction of travel.

Officers recovered fifteen shell casings along Boren Avenue from Stewart to Howell St. Seven 9mm shell casings were located along Stewart St. from Boren Ave. Approximately 3 bullet holes were found in plywood construction sheeting at the SW corner of Boren Ave and Stewart St.

Officers then canvased the apartment building west of the construction site and located a second floor window that had been hit by a bullet. Officers contacted the resident of apartment. The resident was unharmed but the bullet strike pierced two panes of glass and the window shade. It then continued and entered an interior wall without exiting.
