Man Shot in Arm During University District Robbery Attempt

A 26-year -old man sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his arm early this morning during a robbery attempt in the University District.

Just before 1:00 am, the victim was walking in the 4500 Block of 9th Avenue NE.  He later told detectives that he was confronted by two suspects, one armed with a baseball bat and the other armed with a handgun.  The suspects demanded his money and began hitting him with the bat.  The victim raised his arms to protect himself when the first suspect pulled out the gun and fired twice at the victim.  One of the rounds went through the victim’s left arm, near his elbow.  The suspects then fled on foot, possibly toward a car.

The victim ran off in the opposite direction toward 45th and sought help from a nearby nightclub.  911 was called and Seattle Fire medics transported the man to the hospital with the non-life threatening injury.  Robbery detectives also responded to the scene.  Officers searched for the suspects but did not locate them.  Robbery Unit detectives will continue to handle the follow up investigation.
