Five people were transported to Harborview following a four car collision in North Seattle. On Saturday 6/21/14, shortly before 11:00 a.m., a silver Impala travelling southbound on Greenwood Av N clipped a blue Subaru also travelling south on Greenwood Av N. This contact between the two vehicles redirected the Subaru across the center line and into the northbound lanes where it struck a silver Hyundai head on.
A red small vehicle travelling directly behind the silver Hyundai was unable to stop in time due the sudden and unexpected head on crash and it rear ended the Hyundai. The silver Impala that initially clipped the Subaru left the scene without stopping, but returned within minutes and the driver admitted to driving at the time of the collision.
Seattle Fire responded and treated all occupants of the three vehicles that remained at the scene. All vehicle occupants were transported to Harborview Medical Center via AMR, one male with a serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The other drivers and a passenger of the silver Hyundai were thought to have less serious injuries.
As is routine, a Drug Recognition Expert responded and evaluated the 17- year- old male driver of the vehicle that initially left but then returned to the scene. He did not display signs of impairment. He was uninjured and therefore released to the care of his mother at the scene.
The investigation continues.
