Update: Police arrested Carney at a Capitol Hill apartment building just after 5 PM Tuesday. His one-month-old daughter, who was also at the apartment, was unharmed.
Seattle police are searching for a violent felon after he kidnapped his one-month-old daughter and threatened to kill the child’s mother in the University District earlier today.
Eric Carney, 39, approached his child’s mother in the 5200 block of 15 Ave. N.E. just before noon, threatened her, and then grabbed a stroller—containing their infant daughter—out of her hands. The woman tried to grab the stroller back, Carney attacked her and fled with their child.
Police are now searching for Carney, who had previously been ordered to have no contact with the woman.
Carney was last seen wearing a redshirt, camo shorts, and pink children’s backpack. He is 5’11, 260 pounds, and has “EJC” tattooed on his left arm.
Carney has a history of violent crimes, auto theft and animal cruelty. If you see him or have any information about his whereabouts, call 911. Do not contact him.
