Detectives are searching for a gunman after two men were wounded in a shooting Friday afternoon in South Seattle.
After receiving reports of gunfire in Rainier Beach neighborhood just after 2 PM, officers caught up to a car seen speeding away from the Rainier Beach neighborhood.
Police stopped the car near Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. and S. Othello Street and found two men with gunshot wounds inside the vehicle.
Medics transported both men to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. One of the men had a gunshot wound to his leg; the other man was shot in the foot. Both victims are in their late teens or early 20s.
As police searched for the gunman, officers also contacted the Seattle School district, which ordered students at Rainier Beach High School, South Lake High School, SouthShore K-8, Dunlap Elementary, Rainier View elementary, Emerson elementary and Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary to shelter-in-place. Police are currently working with school district security officials to lift the shelter-in-place order as the school day comes to a close.
Detectives are trying to piece together details from the incident, but so far the victims have been reluctant to provide officers with information about what led to the shooting. At this point, detectives believe the two victims were shot in the 9100 block of Rainier Avenue S.
