A group of women helped police chase down a groper in downtown Seattle Wednesday afternoon.
Police received a flurry of phone calls around 12:45 PM after the man began groping women on the street as he walked south from 2nd Avenue and James Street.
Several victims and witnesses followed after the suspect, providing SPD dispatchers with information on the man’s location, as he walked toward Pioneer Square.
With police en route to the scene and his victims in pursuit, the suspect continued grabbing women as he walked down 2nd Avenue.
When officers caught up to the suspect near Occidental Avenue and S. King Street, the man flopped onto the ground. Police called for medics, who said suspect did not appear to be suffering from any medical issues, aside from being very intoxicated.
At least three five victims were able to ID the suspect, and officers booked the man into the King County Jail for Indecent Liberties.
Update: After taking the 32-year-old suspect into custody, officers took statements from five women who reported being groped by the suspect.
Detectives are now investigating the case and are asking anyone else who may have been assaulted by the suspect to call the Sexual Assault Unit at (206) 684-5575.
