Burglars broke into a Lake City car dealership early Tuesday, grabbed 50 car keys and stole a Chevy Malibu.
Lake City dealerships have been hit hard by burglars recently. Police arrested a man earlier this week after he brazenly stole a car in the middle of the afternoon, and last week officers arrested two teen-agers believed responsible for a rash of thefts in the area.
In this incident, the manager told police he opened up the business, located in the 8500 block of Lake City Way Northeast, about 8 AM on Tuesday and discovered someone had broken in overnight. There was broken glass and a large rock on the floor. A board used to hold car keys had been emptied. The burglars made off with the Malibu and also drove an SUV off the lot.
The manager found the SUV parked near Northeast 88th Street and 17th Avenue Northeast with all the doors locked and the dealership keychain on the dash. The Malibu is still missing. Anyone with information about the case is asked to please call (206) 625-5011 and speak with officers.
