Officers arrested a man after he stabbed someone during a bar fight in the Interbay neighborhood Friday night.
The suspect was harassing a woman at a bar in the 3400 block of Gilman Ave. West at 10:30 p.m. Friday.
A man saw the suspect harassing a woman and tried to intervene, causing an argument. The suspect then delivered a blow to the victim’s chest. The victim thought he’d been punched until he realized he was bleeding profusely, only then comprehending that he had been stabbed.
The suspect then attempted to flee by jumping over a patio wall, but landed awkwardly breaking his ankle. Still wielding his knife, he tried to pull himself into a waiting car, driven by his wife, but several witnesses were able to remove the suspect from the car. The witnesses sustained minor cuts to their hands in the process.
Officers quickly arrived and took the suspect into custody. The suspect’s car was impounded so officers could get a warrant to retrieve the knife.
Medics took the victim and suspect to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. Police will book the suspect into King County Jail for assault when he is released from treatment.
