Officers recovered two handguns from a car spotted fleeing the scene of two shootings Thursday evening in South Seattle.
Around 7:15 PM, police received reports of gunfire in Pritchard Beach Park, in the 8400 block of 55 Ave S. Police found shell casings at the scene and heard from witnesses that a large red vehicle had sped away from the scene of the shooting.
About 45 minutes later, around 8 PM, officers responded to another report of gunfire, this time at 46th Ave S and S. Chicago St. This time, witnesses told police they had spotted a red Jeep driving away from the scene. Officers found the Jeep driving through Rainier Beach and pulled the car over at Renton Ave. S. and S. Norfolk St.
The two men and woman inside the Jeep told officers told officers there was a gun inside the car, and when police searched the vehicle they also found a second handgun. Officers identified two men and a woman inside the car and released them after impounding their Jeep for detectives.
Police are also investigating another report of gunfire earlier Thursday evening. Around 6 PM, police received several 911 calls about gunshots near 23rd Ave and East Spring Street.
The suspects fled the scene, where officers found three vehicles damaged by gunfire, along with twenty shell casings. No one was injured in the incident.
Police do not believe these incidents are connected.
