Officers arrested two teens Monday afternoon following a burglary in the Columbia City neighborhood.
A witness called 911 just before 3 PM and reported that three people were climbing the fence into his neighbor’s backyard in the 3200 block of S. Ferdinand St. Officers arrived just in time to see the three suspects climbing back over the nine-foot fence and dashing off. Police found the teens had ditched a stolen laptop, cellphone and MP3 player in the backyard of the home.
Officer Jarod Stone located a 16-year-old suspect a few blocks away and took him into custody without incident. The other two suspects were able to slip away from police at the scene, but officers recognized one of the teens and went straight to his house.
Police sat outside the 17-year-old’s home until they spotted him later in the evening, and took him into custody.
Officers booked the 16-year-old and 17-year-old suspects into the King County Youth Services Center for investigation of burglary. Police are still searching for the third burglary suspect.
