Officer Arrests Suspect in Early Morning South Park Burglary

A 37-year-old man was arrested early this morning after he was found  inside a secured lot of a South Park business.

Shortly after 2:00 am Tuesday morning, Southwest Precinct officers were dispatched to an alarm call at a business in the 9000 block of 14th Avenue South.  The alarm company reported that it could see a man walking around inside the secured perimeter fence.  Officer Bryan Grozav arrived very quickly after receiving the call and saw the suspect wheeling a tire around inside the enclosed fenced yard.   The officer identified himself and ordered the suspect to stop.  The suspect slipped into a dark corner to hide.  Officer Grozav found where a hole had been cut in the fence and stood by to wait for his backing officers.  As he was waiting, the suspect hopped over the fence and landed about 15 feet in front of Officer Grozav.  The suspect was taken into custody without incident and was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of burglary.

Detectives at the Southwest Precinct will handle the follow up investigation.
