Three Arrested, Two Guns Recovered, After Pursuit of Stolen Car

At approximately 12:30 Sunday morning officers observed a stolen vehicle in the 300 block of Melrose Avenue East.  The car had been taken in an armed carjacking the day before.  The car was occupied by three individuals.  As officers were getting into position for a high-risk stop, the stolen car took off, attempting to elude the officers.  The officers pursued the car to the Rainier Beach neighborhood where the suspects abandoned the car and all fled on foot.  Officers saw the driver of the car throw a gun as he was running, and another handgun was observed in the back seat of the car.  Officers quickly set up containment and a K9 team (Officer Wong and Police Dog Ziva) responded to the scene to begin a track.  The track ended in the 8700 block of Hamlet Avenue South, where the three suspects were found hiding underneath a parked car.  The three were taken into custody.  The stolen vehicle was impounded pending a search warrant.  The three suspects, one adult and two juveniles were booked into the King County Jail and Youth Services Center.

Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.  This remains an active and on-going investigation.
