Two men are at Harborview Medical Center following a disturbance and shooting that occurred aboard a Metro bus earlier today. Detectives are investigating.
At approximately 11:15 am, officers from the South and West Precinct responded to a reported shooting on board a Metro bus at 4th Avenue South and South Walker Street. According to witnesses, two men, ages 88 and 51, were in an disturbance with each other. Witnesses stated that the younger man violently pushed the older male as he was attempting to get on the bus. At one point during the disturbance, the older male produced a handgun and shot the other man.
The 88-year-0ld male then fell, striking his head in the bus stairwell as he was getting off the bus. Officers arrived quickly and detained the two individuals, until Seattle Fire arrived and transported the two men to Harborview. The injuries are considered to be serious. No other individuals were injured. Officers recovered the handgun.
Detectives responded to the scene and are in the process of interviewing the numerous witnesses that were on board the bus when the disturbance and shooting occurred. Detectives are also reviewing video from the bus.
