Officers were dispatched to a shoplift from a home improvement store in the 2700 block of Utah Avenue South just before 10 PM Thursday evening. Store security told dispatchers that a man ran out of the store without paying for two impact drills.
Officers working an emphasis patrol in the neighborhood quickly arrived and spotted the suspect walking away still carrying the drills. Officers stopped the 30-year-old suspect and took him into custody without further incident. Police searched the man and recovered the two drills as well as a small quantity of heroin, methamphetamine and 23 unlabeled pills.
Officers booked the suspect into King County Jail for drug charges and will work with the Prosecutor’s Office on additional charges for theft.
