Gang Unit detectives will handle the investigation following a shooting that occurred Thursday evening in North Seattle. The injury to the victim are considered non life-threatening.
On August 22nd, at approximately 6:40 pm, 911 began receiving calls of three males chasing another male in the area of 32 Avenue NE and NE 143rd Street. One of the males was reportedly armed with a handgun. Callers stated that the group was running through yards and jumping fences.
In the 13700 block of 32nd Avenue NE, the 25-year-old victim collapsed with a gunshot wound to his buttock. Seattle Police and Seattle Fire responded. The victim told officers that he had been robbed of his cellphone, which officers later recovered nearby.
Seattle Fire treated the victim at the scene and then transported him to the hospital for further treatment. A number of officers searched the area, including a K9 team, but the suspects were not located. During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the victim was not robbed, but actually dropped his phone while running. The victim would not provide much more information regarding the suspects. Gang detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
