Update- On October 1st, Gang detectives and South Anti-Crime Team officers arrested the 18-year-old male driver of the suspect vehicle after he was identified as a suspect in a July 19th shooting. The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of drive-by shooting. Detectives continue to follow up on this case.
Original Post- Gang Unit Detectives Investigating Shooting in South Seattle
South Precinct officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 8800 block of Renton Avenue S around 1:50 PM today. Upon arriving, officers discovered that the suspect(s) had fled. Police and Gang Unit detectives conducted an exhaustive search of the area, but were unable to locate any victims. Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe that a victim may have been struck by gunfire. A check of nearby hospitals revealed that no victims with gunshot injuries have recently been admitted. This remains an active, ongoing investigation.
