Officers arrested a 21-year-old convicted felon Monday evening while investigating a commercial alarm in South Park.
Southwest Precinct officers were dispatched to a commercial building alarm in the 8800 block of 14th Avenue South just before 5:00 pm. The officers were on foot, checking the exterior of the building when they observed two men behind the business. One of the men was holding a small baggie of white powder, which officers believed to be narcotics. Both men were detained by officers as the investigation continued.
Police learned one of the men, a 21-year-old, had an outstanding felony warrant for escape from the Department of Corrections. He was also in possession of a scale and several cell phones. The narcotics in the baggie, approximately nine grams, tested positive for methamphetamine.
The 21-year-old was later booked into the King County Jail for drug charges and his warrant. The other man was interviewed and released. Detectives will handle the follow-up investigation.
