Detectives are conducting the investigation into the fatal, one-vehicle collision that occurred early Saturday morning on 15th Avenue West.
On Saturday July 18, 2020 at approximately 2:30 AM, a driver of an Audi coupe was northbound on 15th Avenue West near West Garfield Street at a high rate of speed. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle struck a support pillar beneath the Magnolia Bridge. The impact caused the vehicle to fully engulf in flames. Both Seattle Police and Seattle Fire Department responded. The driver was declared deceased at the scene.
Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) detectives were called to the scene and began their investigation.
Seattle Department of Transportation engineers responded to evaluate the structural integrity of the bridge support pillar. After an inspection, the roadway was reopened.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
