#2020-221603/South Precinct/First Watch: 

On 7-24-2020 at 0913 hours, a suspect encountered a female business owner in Columbia City. The suspect used derogatory names numerous times. He spat in the victim’s face, used a broken tree branch to strike her left arm multiple times, causing swelling. He then threatened to kill her. The suspect was located and apprehended upon the primary officer establishing Probable Cause for hate crime. The Seattle Fire Department responded and treated her minor injuries.

#2020-221634/South Precinct/First Watch

On 7-24-2020 at 0958 hours, two shots were fired and suspect was observed fleeing on foot westbound to MLK Jr Wy then northbound out of sight. 

Victim was tended to by a maintenance man from the building until SPD officers arrived. An officer assessed the victim’s gunshot wound and treated it, stabilizing him. Care was then turned over to the Seattle Fire Department once the scene was deemed safe. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he underwent surgery. A K9 attempted a track the suspect with negative results. 

#2020-221713/North Precinct/Second Watch: 

On 07-24-2020 at 1144 hours, officers responded to the 13500 Blk of Burke Ave N, in response to multiple reports of gunshots heard in the area. Upon arrival, officers did not locate anyone injured, but did discover that the gunshots were related to a disturbance occurring at a residence. As officers conducted their investigation, they learned that the gunshots were the result of an altercation involving a possibly known suspect and a resident of the associated address. The residents within the address were not fully forthcoming with information, but it appears that the suspect entered the residence and assaulted a resident before the altercation moved onto the street, where shots were fired. No injuries were apparently sustained from the gunshots. Suspects fled in two vehicles. Officers interviewed witnesses.

#2020-221938/East Precinct/Second Watch: 

On July 24, 2020 at about 1700 hours, two subjects were sitting outside their apartment building when the suspect approached and made disparaging remarks about their race as he spat on the victim. The victim stood up from his walker and verbally confronted the suspect who shoved the elderly victim to the ground. The victim sustained minor injuries to his face and hand. The suspect walked away and was not located during the area check.

#2020-222159/East Precinct/Third Watch: 

On 07-24-2020 at 2250 hours, 911 received calls of shots fired in the area of 23rd and Jackson. Officers responded. There were no victims or damaged property located.
