#2020-229271/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 8-2-2020 at 0244 hours, Seattle Fire responded to an apartment building fire, requesting Seattle Police Department for traffic control. After the fire was extinguished, the Fire Marshall determined that the fire was set intentionally. No residents were displaced but significant damage was caused to an exterior stairwell.  Arson Bomb Squad will conduct follow up investigations. 

#2020-229255/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

On 8-2-2020 at 0212, a group of males were at Alki Beach, parked in the 2400 block of Alki Ave. SW., when the suspects drove by slowly and fired at them. One victim suffered gunshot wounds to his abdomen, arm and hand; another victim suffered a gunshot wound to his arm. The gunshot wounds were non life-threatening. The victims were transported to Harborview Medical Center. 

#2020-229366/South Precinct/First Watch:

On 8-2-2020 at 0733 hours, the Seattle Fire Department responded to the Rainier Valley grocery store for a fire. SFD called for SPD. Officers arrived on scene and found that a shopping cart had been pulled over to the gas pumps. One of the gas pump hoses was placed inside the cart. The cart was then set on fire. Store employees activated the emergency shut off. There were no witnesses.  

#2020-229404/South Precinct/First Watch:

On 8-2-2020 at 0842 hours, the manager of a Rainier Valley grocery store called to report that there was a man inside the store threatening staff and customers. The man claimed to have a gun and apparently brandished a handgun and made threats to kill the manager. The suspect was located several blocks to the south and taken into custody. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail but the gun was not found. 

#2020-229473/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 8-2-2020 at 1130 hours, a large man followed a woman into a building in the 600 block of 3 AVE. The man assaulted a woman outside by striking her in the head. Then he assaulted the front desk employee and caused a laceration to her head. Another employee called 911. The suspect followed the initial woman to the fourth floor and started breaking glass doors in the hallway. She was frightened and called 911. Officers arrived and located the combative and resistive suspect.  The arresting officer attempted to grab the suspect, but the man then struck the officer in the face with his fists. Suspect was then arrested and evaluated by Seattle Fire Department, then booked into the King County Jail. The officer was treated at a local hospital and has been discharged with minor injuries.  

#2020-229830/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

On 8-2-2020 at 1935 hours, a witness called 911 to report finding shell casings in an alley by his home and corresponding damage to a nearby vehicle. The caller indicated a shots/fireworks 911 call had been placed a few hours prior and believes this was related. Officers arrived but the victim vehicle owner was not located. No additional property damage, victims or witnesses were located.
